Surrendering Your Cat

FuRRR Feline Rescue understands that surrendering a cat can be a difficult decision to make.  We are currently reviewing each surrender request on a case-by-case basis.  Due to the limited resources of our rescue, we are not able to grant all surrender requests, placement in our rescue.  FuRRR is accepting any cats or kittens that were previously adopted from FuRRR (read below for more details). 

We cannot accept surrenders from outside our local area, Gonic/Rochester, NH.  Alternatively, we recommend contacting your local registered animal shelter and/or other rescues in NH for possible placement.  (A list can be found below). 

If your cat was adopted through another shelter/rescue/adoption agency, you MUST contact that organization to return the animal to them as stated in the adoption contract. 

SURRENDERING A CAT ADOPTED FROM FuRRR: As stated in our adoption contract, if you can no longer keep a cat adopted from FuRRR, the cat must be returned to FuRRR.  “Once a FuRRR cat, always a FuRRR cat”. Please email our intake coordinator at intakes@furrr.org  We will arrange the return of the cat to the rescue.  

ADDITIONAL SURRENDER INFORMATION: Our rescue is a cage free, open-concept rescue, where cats are housed together in common rooms.  Our cats are adopted to indoor-only homes. Feral cats that need an outdoor living situation, may do better in a barn environment. Please consider contacting the SPCA about their “Working Cat” program. info@nhspca.org

REHOMING YOUR CAT: Should you wish to rehome your cat on your own, this is a good option.   https://rehome.adoptapet.com or  https://www.facebook.com/groups/NEAreaAnimalAdoptRehome/  It is always a good idea to do as much as you can to find your cat a new home on your own and avoid the shelter system.

RESOURCE FOR SPAY/NEUTER (Owned & Stray/Feral): Spay and Neuter are the most important thing to do for your cat or any stray/feral you may be feeding.  If you feed it, fix it!  There is a wonderful organization in New Hampshire, they are a low-cost clinic and FuRRR uses them too!  Please contact http://rozziemayanimalalliance.org/
