Are you looking to adopt a FuRRR family member?  FuRRR Feline Rescue carefully screens our applicants to ensure our kittens and cats go to the best possible homes.  Placing a cat in a new home is best for the family AND their new family member!

Our Cat Adoption Application Process

Thank you for your interest in adopting a cat from FuRRR! We strive to make the adoption process as easy and flexible as possible while ensuring our adopters and cats are the right match and have a happy life together.

Please read carefully and follow all instructions.

The application process DOES NOT guarantee approval as we carefully screen all applicants for the well-being of the cats.

  • Applications could take up to three business days to process, but we try to reply as soon as we can
  • Applications must be completed in their entirety, or they will NOT be processed
  • You must be 21 years of age to apply

Please call your vet if you currently have or have had any pets in the past 5-6 years:

    1. Permit them to speak with a FuRRR representative about your current and/or previous pets
    2. If you do not, your application will NOT be processed.
  • All current and previous animals MUST be:
    1. Spayed/neutered
    2. Have a history of veterinary care and vaccinations

A Virtual Home Visit is required:

  • After submitting your adoption application, please email photos of the interior of your home to show that it is a safe, clean, and healthy place for kittens/cats

Renters

  • Your landlord will be contacted to confirm pets are permitted in your lease.
  • If you live with your parents, they must email adoption@furrr.org, permitting the adoption in writing.

 Adoption Approval Process

Once all of the above steps have been completed and reviewed by the coordinator, and everything has been accepted and approved to move forward:

  • A meet and greet will be scheduled with applicants.
  • Please Note: We understand things come up; if you cannot make it to your meet and greet, please let us know as soon as possible. Often, our volunteers make a special trip to the rescue for the meet and greet.
  • We do NOT place cats on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The FINAL approval to adopt a cat will be determined once the meet and greet has been concluded.

After the Meet and Greet

  • All kittens/cats require a final exam with our vet to receive their health certificate for adoption.
  • This process may take several days or be fairly quick, depending on when your meet and greet is scheduled.
  • The vet appointments take place every Thursday afternoon, and these visits fill quickly, so a meet and greet does not guarantee a slot is available with our vet immediately after.

 Adoption Day Checklist

  • When: Adoptions are held mainly on Thursday evenings once the cats return from their vet appointment.  Other days can be scheduled, and our volunteers will work with you based on everyone’s availability.
  • Where: All adoptions are held at the rescue in Gonic, NH, not in stores per State law.
  • Bring Your Carrier: You MUST bring a safe, secure pet carrier (preferably hard-sided/standard 24” for an average-sized adult or two small kittens) and adequate size to the adoption, with no exceptions, or you will not be permitted to take your new kitten/cat home.
  • Non-Expired Driver’s License or Non-Driver ID: Please be prepared to show your license when picking up your cat or at the meet/greet with the cat to verify your place of residence.  The ID must be issued by the State.
